    There's nothing that wrong with this post except for it's kind of "duh?" Like much of Rawsthorne's writing, it comes off as smarter than the rest of us - like no one in education thinks about this? It also doesn't particular grasp what has already gone on - tons of stuff has been outsourced already to both commercial and open source providers. That's part of the problem - when you start becoming a service consumer, you enter into a commodity relationship with open source that looses lots of its benefits. Instead, what we really need is simply a cloud that we can use; low cost commodity infrastructure that is Canadian-based and doesn't run afoul of FIPPA and works at an economy of scale. Then we can find the right mix of aggregated service vs in-house app
